BOZIDAR MIKSA, DJ & Event Manager

DJ as a vocation

"When it comes to Croatian weddings, if the music sucks, the party is screwed. As a german croatian DJ for german-croatian weddings, you need real insider knowledge. I was born near Stuttgart, my parents are both from Croatia. Already as a child I started to collect music. During my studies it was all a hobby. I have a degree in business administration, after university I worked as a manager in the software industry, it was the time of the new economy. I jetted halfway around the world, headhunters called me, and I earned well. But when the second company went bankrupt, I decided that I wanted to start something of my own, nothing to do with IT and management, but something that was really close to my heart: music. My girlfriend at the time threw her hands up in horror, but I drew up a business plan, advertised, and soon had my first job at a wedding. That's how it went for a few years.

Every German-Croatian wedding is a new challenge

Along the way, I organized my own party series, "edel aufgelegt." I also perform at company parties and other sophisticated events. In the meantime I have built up a very good reputation. At some point I remembered my Croatian roots and started to play at Croatian or German-Croatian, German-Bosnian or German-Serbian weddings. This is a real challenge: firstly, because sometimes the guests already want a mood after coffee and cake. But then also because Croatia and the former Yugoslavia has different regions with very different music and many influences. Some wounds from the war have not yet healed, so you have to be careful not to play the wrong music from the wrong region or with the wrong lyrics. Croatian music is also highly emotional!

Dancing until dawn

As a Croatian DJ, I am like a conductor, I can play the guests towards the climax for hours and adjust the mood up or down. Even if the Slivovic is flowing in streams, I can't drink anything, otherwise the concentration is lost. Around midnight, a suckling pig is often served, after which I turn up the volume again, and then, at the end, come the bouncers: slow, sentimental ballads, usually about love of one's homeland. At German weddings, all the guests would leave at the latest after such a song, but with Croats it's different, they all lie in each other's arms, sing along loudly and dance until dawn."

Customer Opinion

"Dear Mr. Miksa,

without thinking twice, we decided for you directly after only one email. Today it is quite clear that this was the absolute best decision. From the very beginning - without having talked in advance - we had the feeling that you would make our wedding an unforgettable day with your skills. And so it was. You managed that the dance floor was always filled until the early morning hours. Whether German or Croatian - everyone rocked out together. It couldn't have been better. We received so much positive feedback from our guests. Everyone was simply thrilled.

There remains only to say: On a day like this, one wishes for infinity.

Once again, from the bottom of our hearts, a very big THANK YOU to you.

Best regards
